Dime A Dozen presents Legit One “Illicit” in-store recap

Last weekend we opened the doors of our Dime A Dozen flagship location to the public and were happy to aim the spotlight, not on ourselves, but a local creative from the South Bay. The artist Legit One presented his Illicit Collection in his first solo art show. While he’s done a few pop ups in other locations, we were hyped to see what he was gonna do given the opportunity to run his own gallery for an entire day, for the first time ever. He didn’t sleep — not on the opportunity and literally not in the weeks leading up to this event in order to make it all happen. In under a month, we were able to put what you see below together: from the art pieces to the storefront and all the promotion that went into it. As a result, we saw a packed event filled with friends, family, and a lot of faces we’ve never seen before. If you took the time to come out, thank you. It meant just as much to me and the team to see everyone come out as it did to Romar for his first solo show. For those that missed the event, a quick recap: we had an all day BBQ, our Spring Cleaning sale, ran all the NBA game 7′s, a live art demo from Legit One, live performances from Ash Riser & Nicky Tee, the Mayweather fight and, in between, a bunch of raffles and giveaways. A huge thank you to our sponsors, JFKROLEX, who threw out gold micro dd chains; DJ Disco Aye on the ones and twos; MobileiPhoneGuy who gave away a case swap and screen protectors; Bank Sale hats; and NonCents with the Flud watch.

After the event, I know a lot of people were wondering whether or not the shop is now open to the public, what the point of doing these kind of events is and why we would let someone else use the shop as a pop up for our first opening. While not open to the public yet, we’ll still be throwing an event at the location once a month showcasing new artists, musicians, and people we are out here building with. If you’ve been following us, then it’s not a surprise that we really support the people we work with. If we can open our doors and provide a space for everyone we been building with to come out, cross promote, and help each other grow, where does anyone lose? Although the first show wasn’t headlined with a grand opening or a new collection, I couldn’t have seen us throwing a better event. Again, thank you to everyone that came out to support, the event was all good vibes. Can’t wait till the next one.

Demar Derozan Postgame Interview

After a tough game 7 lost to the Brooklyn Nets, Demar Derozan was spotted in our Logo Crewneck as he addressed media in the postgame interview. Although the season sadly came to an end, Demar had a breakout year leading to his first all star appearance. It’s been a huge inspiration to watch his progression over the years; he came up in Compton so he was never too far from us. Trevor actually got a chance to link with him in 2010 during the NBA summer league so it’s pretty dope to see how far he’s come over the years. He’s a prime example of hard work and dedication taking you where you want to go. Seeing him in our logo crew and speaking about the things he does is truly a blessing because it’s exactly what we represent as a brand. We know he’ll be working hard this summer, looking forward to how hungry he comes back in the Fall.
